Capture Your Grief Day 6: What Not to Say

In the beginning, a lot of things people said "bothered" me or made me upset.  It was God's will, It's better that she didn't suffer, It's better that you didn't get to know her, etc.  Most of those comments don't bother me as much now, because I know people say them usually as a way to try to comfort in a moment where they don't know what to say.

But the whole idea of "You're young and will have more babies"  or now "At least you have Livia,"  as if that somehow makes Kayla's death OK, that bothers me.  No matter how many babies I have, Kayla's absence will always be painful.  People would never suggest this to parents of only living children. Children are never replaceable.

Don't tell me everything is OK just because she's here.
