Livia turned ONE on July 27th. A whole year of life. It is such a great milestone for any baby, but especially for babies born after a loss. She is surviving and thriving. She has changed my world, shaped my grief into something less sharp and pointy, and allowed me to experience true joy again. And the best part is, she has no idea!! She just does her thing, eats and cries and plays and throws things into the toilet when I accidentally leave the lid open.
I am so glad and deeply grateful (to God, the universe?) that I have experienced the ups and downs of mother a
living child. I know Livia will never be a replacement for Kayla, but she fills my days with fun and tangible mommy-ness.
Now I have a toddler!

Has it been one year already? I remember starting to follow your blog when you were pregnant and I was just starting to TTC after losing Grace. You making it gave me such hope that I could have a little bit of that happiness again. Now here you are mom to a toddler and I have an infant at home. The circle of life continues even as we miss our girls we didn't get to keep. Happy birthday Livia!

ReplyDeleteI swear I thought of Livia turning 1 on July 27th. It's the 27th for Pete's sake, of course I'd remember!! And I read this a few months back, and wwas SURE I came back and commented!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! She's so sweet and one of the cutest babies I've seen, hands down. I hope there are countless happy birthdays to come.
